Among survivors and victims, many left personal accounts. In this class, we dignify the story of one survivor and portray a courageous group which did not survive. For the survivor, Inge Auerbacher, who endured the camp at Theresienstadt and eventually relocated to Queens in New York City, represents a compelling story of hope, desire and triumph. Auerbacher, who is now 85, remains a strong voice for portraying her experience. We'll also explore voices of the Oyneg Shabbos, an underground contingent of writers in the Warsaw Ghetto. This group of about 60 people recorded accounts of their experiences through documents, photographs, paintings and manuscripts. Only three members survived. Their narrative became vital to tell a collective story under the most brutal and inhumane conditions.
