RISE Learning for Life is offering 47 enrichment classes this summer at the Rio Salado College Lifelong Learning Center, 12535 Smokey Dr., Surprise. 

Class descriptions are found in the free summer catalog available at the Rio Salado front desk Mon.-Thurs., 8 a.m.-5 p.m.  

Summer session begins June 5.  RISE has 20 years experience in providing high-interest, non-credit courses taught by experts in their field.  There are classes for everyone in the areas of health/wellness, religion/spirituality, technology, science and finance.  The classes you will find this summer, for example, Tai Chi, History of Baseball, Faiths of the World, All About DNA, Edgar Cayce, and Japanese Spell on Western Art.

More than 300 classes are taught on-site and there are over 500 online courses included in your $65 membership July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018.

Becky Schroeder, Sun City West, has been named the new coordinator for RISE Learning for Life at Rio Salado College, Surprise. 

RISE, an independent non-profit organization, offers 300+ non-credit enrichment classes each year at Rio Salado College for adults living in Maricopa County.

Schroeder assumes the position January 23.  She succeeds Marion Kammauf,  coordinator since 2014, who is moving to North Carolina to be near her family.

A former employee and graduate of Minnesota State Community College, Moorhead, MN, Schroeder helped develop curriculum for instructors, taught several computer classes, and administered proposals and contracts for the college. 

The RISE winter semester began this week (Jan. 9), offering  81 classes more than half of them new.
